FAQs

Below you will find the answers to our most frequently asked questions. If you still have a question or can’t find what you're looking for, contact us.

How much will it cost to have my writing edited?

Our prices are low and transparent. We charge a flat rate per word and have a minimum price equivalent to 1,000 words. Check out our pricing page to see exactly what proofreading your document will cost using our handy calculator, or contact us for a specific tailored quote.

Can you format my document?

Absolutely! We’re fantastic at formatting and love helping customers make their work look as great as it reads. Simply add our Formatting Service at checkout and provide details of your formatting needs when prompted.

I’m having an issue with your website.

We’re really sorry you are having problems. Please email your work to us and let us know what technical issues you are facing. We will upload your document for you and have our team look into the problem immediately.

What are your hours of operation?

We have a presence in multiple time-zones, allowing us to be open 24/7, 365 days a year. You can upload a document at any time, or contact us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

I only want part of my document proofreading. How do I submit it?

You have two options. Firstly, you can submit just the words you want proofreading via the website by removing the other words. Alternatively, highlight the words you want changing in the document, email us your work and we will upload it for you.

Will you rewrite a document?

No. We don’t provide rewriting services because we believe that everyone’s work should be their own. Students should be especially careful here as this is always against university guidelines, so we strongly advise against the use of a rewriting service.

What dialects do you proofread in?

We proofread standard British, American, Canadian, and Australian English. Simply select your dialect preference during upload.

Why does Stripe store my payment details?

Stripe stores your card details securely via a token so you can check out more easily when you next use the site. You can remove this via the settings in your user area or by contacting us so we can do it for you.

Can I delete my document from your system after editing?

Sure thing! Navigate to the document in your user area and click the delete button. Be careful to download it first, though, as the deletion is permanent.

How long will it take to proofread my writing?

We offer a Next-Day Guarantee at no additional cost, which ensures we return your work within 24 hours if it is under 10,000 words. If you need your work faster, you can add our Express Service at checkout, and we’ll return your work in half the time! Contact us if you need your work sooner, as we can normally meet even the tightest deadlines.

What types of document formats do you accept?

You can automatically upload .DOC and .DOCX documents to our system, and we also proofread documents in PDF, .PPT, .PPTX, LaTex, RTF, iBook, and many more formats. Simply email your work to us, and we will upload the document on your behalf.

My document is too long. Can you reduce the word count?

Part of the proofreading process often includes removing unnecessary words. If you’re a business, author, researcher, or professional, we can work to your specifications, so just contact us with your requirements. For students, we will not reduce word counts as we are very strict on proofreading within university guidelines in order to ensure that we never enter the realm of plagiarism.

I have a very unique subject type. Do you have someone who can proofread it?

We have over 100 proofreaders, so we’ll always match your work with an editor who has the relevant experience and background. If you have something really niche, contact us and we will source the perfect proofreader for your work.

Is proofreading allowed by universities?

Yes, generally universities allow and actively encourage proofreading; some students even receive a proofreading allowance. We are also always careful that we only proofread students' work and never make edits that change the meaning. Our services meet university guidelines, but these rules can vary, so you should always check with your university first.

I would like English teaching and coaching. Can you help?

During the proofreading process we add comments where alterations are made, and link those comments to specific helpful articles within our writing tips blog to help you learn more about the alterations. This enables our customers to learn and improve their English writing. If you want something more tailored, we can also recommend an English teacher or coach if you contact us.

Who do you use to process your payments?

We use Stripe. They’re a great, easy-to-use, and secure payment processor.
