Proofed Introduces Extra Support For Seven New Document Formats

We are proud to make proofreading simple. With our US, UK, and Australian sites, for instance, all you need to do is upload your documents and let the professionals do the hard work of checking your writing. And to make sure we can help as many people as possible, we’ve expanded our system to enable submission of seven new document formats. These include:

  • PDF files
  • PowerPoint presentations (.ppt and .pptx)
  • Excel spreadsheets (.xls and .xlsx)
  • RTF files
  • TXT files
  • Google Docs

This is on top of the Microsoft Word (.doc and .docx) and LaTeX (.tex) files that we already supported. As such, you now have more choice than ever over how to submit your work.

To upload a document, all you need to do is add any of the supported file formats to our upload page. We will then tailor the proofreading process to suit the file format you’ve uploaded. With a PDF, for example, we will provide feedback by commenting on the PDF file. But with a Microsoft Word file, we will make edits directly, highlighting the changes with the Track Changes function. For in-depth information on how we handle different file types, see our Supported Formats page.

We’ve made this change because we want the proofreading process to be as simple as possible for our customers. On this note, Proofed CEO Adam Harvey says, “We are excited to expand our service. Nobody wants to have to convert their work to the ‘correct’ format so they can have it checked, especially if that also means converting it back again afterwards! So we’ve cut out the hassle by letting customers choose the format they want to use.”

Proofed will continue to expand its support for different file formats in the future. In the meantime, though, if you have a file type that isn’t in the list above, we can still help. Just get in touch to let us know what you need proofreading and we’ll work out the rest!
